With extraordinary success in the field of beauty pageants, sixty-year-old lawyer Alejandra Rodríguez made history by winning the prestigious title of Miss Universe Buenos Aires in Argentina.
At the time, Alejandra Rodríguez competed in the competition along with a total of 34 other individuals ranging in age from 18 to 73 years old.
Rodríguez, who comes from a small village in the city of Buenos Aires, La Plata, is a journalist and lawyer by profession.
Soon after graduating high school, she decided to pursue a career in journalism, according to an article published by the New York Post. Later in life, she decided to pursue a career in law and eventually became a legal advisor to a hospital.
But the real “paradigm shift” came when she won a beauty pageant, creating a historic moment. She did this by breaking down the stereotypes associated with the beauty industry.
What is behind the extraordinary success of Alejandra Rodríguez’s victory?
According to the rules of the “Miss Universe” pageants, women could only compete if they were between the ages of 18 and 28 during a significant part of its history.
A story from the Independent, on the other hand, states that the Miss Universe 2023 organization announced that starting in 2024, there will be no upper age limit for participation in these beauty pageants. Anyone who was at least 18 years old could participate in the Miss Universe pageant.
The phrase “not just physical beauty”
After making history, Alejandra Rodríguez expressed to the media that her victory marks the beginning of a new phase in the field of beauty pageants, where women are characterized not only by their physical attractiveness, but also by a different set of values. The fact that she will represent this “new paradigm in beauty pageants” is something else that expressed her enthusiasm.
At the beginning of this generation, I am the first to start it.
I believe that the judges were able to recognize my self-confidence and enthusiasm to represent the ladies of my generation,” she stated.
She is currently preparing to represent Buenos Aires in the future national selection at Miss Universe Argentina, which Rodríguez says is scheduled to take place in May 2024.
“I am full of determination to fight for the title of Miss Universe Argentina 2024,” she said.
To answer the question of how she manages to maintain her youthful appearance at the age of 60, Rodríguez told the New York Post that it’s because she leads a healthy lifestyle.
Maintaining a nutritious diet and engaging in physical activity is essential for a healthy life. Typical medical care, nothing out of the ordinary, plus a bit of genetics,” she explained.
