The film Mufasa: The Lion King has released its preview. Directed by Moonlight director Barry Jenkins, Disney’s highly anticipated prequel follows the journey of Simba’s father and how he rises to power.
The story is based on the 1994 Disney animated classic, The Lion King, which was adapted in 2019 by Jon Favreau.
About the trailer
The trailer opens with a vast forest setting where the animal kingdom lives in harmony. It gives a taste of the
adventures of Mufasa and the friends he makes along the way, along with a series of adventures that shape his journey.
Starring John Kani as Rafiki, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Billy Eichner as Timon, Donald Glover as Simba, and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala.
The official entry is as follows: “Mufasa: The Lion King commissions Rafiki to pass on the legend of Mufasa to the young lion cub Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala, with Timon and Pumbaa lending their signature. Told in flashbacks, the story features Mufasa as an orphaned cub, lost and alone, until he meets a lovable lion named Taka – heir to a royal bloodline.
A chance meeting will set in motion the far-reaching journey of an extraordinary group of misfits in search of their destiny – their bonds will be tested as they work together to escape a menacing and deadly enemy.”
Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote the songs for the film.The film released in 2019 was helmed by director Jon Favreau, based on a script penned by Jeff Nathanson.

Reacting to the trailer, one fan wrote, “This looks pretty impressive and promising than its predecessor…” Another fan commented, “Hopefully with Barry Jenkins directing it’ll be something special. Here’s hope.”
The comment read: “I think we can see from this trailer where Simba got his adventurous vibe from. I thought he was just curious, but now I feel like he got it from his dad.”
